Hello, I seem to remember reading a post sometime back regarding repairing the hinges on the Exiss Drop down windows. The original hinges made of aluminum freeze and start popping and creaking when opening and closing the windows. Then eventually the hinge breaks. Seems to me that someone posted that they drilled and lubed and were able to free the hinge? Now I can't find the post.I have tried lubing hinges with several different types of lube. Have removed the window from the hinge that is just screwed on. Still not able to free the few pieces that are frozen. Going to try removing rivets and taking hinge all the way off the trailer and seeing if i can free up the pieces. Really don't want to have to pay the $275 per hinge it costs to replace with the stainless hinges.Any suggestions????Thank you

Mix brake fluid with Kroil oil 50%-50%. Apply it to the hinge pins with an animal syringe. If you have a painted surface, make sure to mask it off to prevent any damage. If you don't have a painted surface, applying heat with a small torch will help infuse the pins with the fluid. Let it soak first for about 1/2 an hour and gently move the window. Reapply the mixture and keep the hinge moving. You will probably see rust flowing from the hinge pin. Keep applying the fluid and moving the window until it runs clear. Using this method, you may not have to rebuild your trailer's hinges.

I know. old thread!

Where did you find stainless steel hinges? My OEM parts are beyond repair.

Thanks

Good quality. Maybe a little pricey, but good.
