Here is a couple of picutres of my home brewed set up for $125.00. Makes the better half happy, so I am happy. for now. I am putting a pencil to it this week so I can make some adjustments as far as making them a little more compact. These are not real good pictures, (camera got wet at the shoot) and missing the picture showing panels closed in the trailer. Remove 2 hitch pins and extend the panels out to right at 12' long (just a touch over 6' closed) I just set them up real quick to give you and idea. Might not work for everybody, but works great for us!
But as you can see, I like the flashy sides of our trailer and still not going to hang anything off of it. Plus ours is 8' wide and that would mean having panels hanging out past the tires and wheels. Sorry this won't work for me!

Hey Hogtownboss,Your very creative and obviously talented! I like your corral. Your wife is very lucky to have a handy and talented husband! Thank you for taking the time to send me your pictures. There are several other PVC pipe corral systems out on the market that I have looked at, however, since I ride a stallion I decided I wanted something more secure for him, but this would work for a lot of horses, I would think.Trail Corral is made out of steel and the corners are secured with steel interlocking bars that keep it from being pushed around. The adjustable legs really help on the uneven ground. I personally like not having to lug the panels around. Trail Corrals are secured with pens and not bungees' which is more secure than some of the competition. Here in UT, I was told that the PVC pipes freeze and then crack if a horse hits them...so I'm not sure if that would work up here.The trailer below is and 8 foot wide. An 8ft wide trailer can have 3 panels(12x12) on the side and stay within the guidelines for width. This trailer has a large awning which is nice too.

I found a set on the net that are offered for over $600.00, but like I added to start with I still do not need anything hanging off the side of my nice little flashy trailer and the pvc panels I made only weigh around 10 to 15 lbs each so they are really easy for anyone to move around.

A couple of places I go will allow portable pens but not connected to your trailer. So this really only works if you are in a place with a wide spot that will allow panels right next to the trailer. I rarely go to a perfect set up - this would maybe work better for shows than for trail riding.

The good thing about my portable pvc panels is I can put them anywhere I need too... Does not have to be next to the trailer and with 4 panels I can have about a 12x12 stall or with 7 panels I can have 2 12x12 stalls. The way i built mine they make stronger 12x12 stalls than they do when I use them in a large pen, if I use a large pen I either add a couple of step in post on the corners or go to the trailer for a larger pen when possible..

Hogtown boss.. i love your corral and wouldn't mind some extra panels.. however, one of my mares likes to stand on the rungs and has put her foot thru the panels a couple of times.. Now she has to be tied to the trailer until I can train her to the electric corral.....My other mare doesn't do the electric corral and does great with corral panels... Sheesh!.. It's always something, isn't it?!

I am drawing up a set with 3 rails that are going to be about 5' long closed and almost 10' long open. I also am adding a tab to the inside of the ones I have now so I can add an electric tape fence just for a little extra back off power incase.

There are a lot of different corral systems out on the market. No system will fit every persons needs. Any polypropylene material will brake down after prolonged sun exposure and will crack easier with freezing temperature exposure. I decided to invest in a steel product that will hold up to heat or cold. I like being able to set up the corral in less than 3 min. I don't have to lug heavy or light panels around. I can also customize it to be detachable.
So it is good to think about what you need in a corral, what is most important to you(safety being my biggest issue) and hope that you make the right decision, Lord knows I have a ton of stuff at the barn that doesn't work like I thought it would!
I feel much better knowing that I have something that is secure to put my stallion in (he will play every chance he gets)!

If you are asking about mine, I either carry them in the first stall when hauling 2 horses or if I haul 3 horses I put them in or on the bad of the truck I am using. On my flatbed, the ones I built here in the pictures fit perfect between the cab and gooseneck, in my pick up I stack them long ways between the inner fended and gooseneck.
Yes, after a while the extremely COLD weateher will take a over on the pvc, (we have had misters in the barn since 2000 made out of light weight pvc not the heavy sc40 and still no problems with cold weather) so the sc40 should last a while. But here in Texas the cold weather is not an issue and since I keep these covered when not in use the sun is not that big a deal either. The great thing about them is they are light weight, easy to move and do not have to worry about scratching the side of your trailer or if you had a steel trailer will not have to worry about rust starting after scratching the sides up.

Linda Y, If you are "studying" about the PVC panels that I built, I will send you a parts list of what it took to build mine. I used 1 1/4" sch40, 1" sch40 for the main stuff. The 1" slides right inside the 1 1/4" just perfect. Was thinking about trying to build one nxt week using 2" sch40, just to see how much heavyier they are.

My horse would "depaint" my trailer..... Great set up. One question, what if they were to lie down by the trailer and possibly get their feet/legs under it? I worry.......sometimes too much.

Several years ago, I bought a plan for making a PVC corral off eBay. It is also very neat, but I like the way yours 'folds up' better, I think. Their's had a lot more parts, so would be heavier, too.

The owners of the late, great, View This Jet barrel champion could explain about what happens when a horse lays down and rolls too close to the trailer. So could (one of) his veterinarian and farrier.

Thats one great thing about the pvc panels I built! They do not have to attach to the trailer and they are not steel. The only metal I have is the 2" hitch pin I use to lock them inplace when extended. Any horse could get into trouble when rolling by the trailer no matter what if any panels are used....

I'd love to try mounted shooting. I only have one horse that MIGHT let me do it. I have one (a retired LE horse none the less) that won't even let you near him with a rifle and bolts if someone shoots to close to him. And I've only got a 22 so its more of a pop than a big bang.
