Sure is funny that if I were looking for a horse they would be selling for a million dollars.

How right you are...I wouldn't be able to give it away...without having to pay they're feed bill for a year!   I just had to do that with a 27 year old Arab that I had resqued when he was 22.  I'm afraid he's not going to make it much past this year...but he has had the life of leasure for the past several years!  And Lots of hugs!

I sold an 8 y/o foundation QH gelding this past spring.  He was farm bred;  had shown (& done very well)extensively at FQH shows.  Placed him on Craigslist (just until I got "good pics").  Had an email before I got home from work that day.  Corresponded with a lady for a week or 2.  She finally came out to look and we made a deal before they left that day.  I advertised for 8.5 K, sold for 8 K.  He is to be a "trail horse".  Lawyer's wife & she wanted a well trained horse.  One ad, one caller:  Yeah, I lucked out.  Even better, she adores him and regularly sends glowing email reports.  Dat makes me happy!

The new issue of Equus magazine says the BLM is going to offer a bonus of $500 after and adopter has a horse or burro (in good condition) after one year from the date of the adoption. According to the article, the BLM has about 32,000 horses and burros in holding pens.
