I have finally talked my husband into buying a new to us trailer.  I have searched the ads and every trailer we have found that we like seems to sell very quickly.  Is there that big of a market for a used Living Quarters with a mid-tack???

The best value in horse trailers is the purchase of a used one. Just as with automobiles, during the first few years of ownership, the value of the trailer depreciates. It's possible to find one that has had little usage if you shop around. Any trailer that is in a very good or exceptional condition and priced right, will easily sell. Once you find what you are searching for, and it's the price you want to pay, close the deal quickly, if not, on the spot. Other people are doing the same thing, and will buy it out from under you.

No matter how perfect the trailer looks, you can expect to find things that need attention or you want to change. Provide for the total  cost in your budget. Some people will only buy a product that comes with a warranty. This is a boon for the DIYr that doesn't mind doing some things on his own.

Check each appliance and AC for proper functionality. Look underneath at the frame and wheels, and try everything that moves. A good inspection will save you heartaches later.

Gard has some interesting points.  At our 4 stores in our dealership; a trailer is for sale until someone puts a deposit on it, and than it goes into "sale pending".  So if you find something you like, be ready to put a deposit on it.  Too many times, people want to take time to think about it, or look some more; and in the mean time: IT GETS SOLD !!  However, if you do find a used trailer that is 10 years old or newer; we can put a 48 month extended service contract on it.  New units we can go as long as a 84 month extended warranty.  These make a lot of sense, since it covers most everything in the LQ, plus axle components and braking system (not normnal wear items, like pads or shoes).  Something to think about.
