How has it worked for you?  What size trailer are you pulling?

I wouldn't be wthout them. I have had them on the last several trailers and all worked well. I am pulling a 38' elite now. The Dexter pumps have worked best for me. The Carlyle pumps don't seem to be as smooth and seem to heat up quicker during extended stops in traffic. The disc brakes are a world better than the drum, or hydraulic drum. I am getting about 3 times more life out of the pads on the disc brakes and have never had to turn a rotor face.

Are those the Dexter discs that are on your Elite? I know you are going alot, but how many miles are you putting on them?

Yes they are Dexters. I put about 80,000 on the last trailer, the one before that about 60,000. I have about 20,000 on the trailer I have now. The most I've put on one was about 120,000 on an Elite I pulled most of 2 seasons.

What part heated up?  The fluid or the unit.  How did you know it was heating up?  What type of jerking?  I talked to the guys at Kodiak and they are sending me a carlisle pump, but said it is now a 7th generation unit.  How long ago was your experience with the carlisle pump?

If you have already decided on carlyle, I hope you have good luck. I had one 3 years ago. It was not as smooth as the dexter and if you stopped after being in traffic, you could not hold your hand on the pump. I always thought the brakes felt mushy after being in stop and go traffic and figuured it was because the pump and fluid was hot, but what do I know. I didn't think Kodiak still used carlyle.

When Dexter first introduced their pump, I thought that it was built by Carlisle. Any idea who is making Dexter's pump now, or is it Dexter building it on their own?

The ony thing I can tell you is what the Dexter guys told me, they make their own and mine is stamped Dexter. There is a significant difference to me in the smoothness of the brakes with the Dexter. Don't know any more than that.

Sounds good to me.

What controller are you using with it?

Sorry to quiz so much about it, but I wanted to change over a couple fo years ago and didn't do it. Now I think I am wishing that I had.
