My Yamaha 3000 inverter generator is quiet like your Honda, about 59 db. The thing I always have to overcome is I hate starting it up in a quiet horse camp even at mid day!I hate to ruin other campers serenity.I think it comes from years of ground camping next to REALLY NOISY generators. So we only run it to recharge batteries, not to run the AC and Micro. My advice...buy the quietest generator available. That would be the invertor style Honda,Yamaha or Kipor.
Kind of off subject but Another plus,is to convert your generator to run on propane, and all of these are easy to convert . Then You and your neighbors dont have to deal with the gasoline exhaust fumes .

I just purchased a (used, still under warrenty) Honda 1000Eu ~ wow! My fan makes more noise! I know it's small, but I only wanted something to run a few fans at open shows. I couldnt be more pleased and I was told it was registering around 48 _ _ on the econo setting. Well worth the few extra dollars spent, not to mention, it only weighs in at 29 pounds!

I have a 5000 Kawasaki with electric start. Don't know much about it but it's like a two stage??? How do you find out how loud it is? I looked in the book but couldn't find anything about it. I love it because you just turn the key and it starts!

I found the sound ratings for the ones I was looking at by looking at their specs on different websites.
I went ahead and bought one that is rated around 69db. It really doesn't seem all that bad to me....at least not compared to 75% of others I've heard at jackpots/barrel races/rodeos so I'm not going to stress over it.
It's 4400 starting watts, 3500 running...electric start and less than 100# (not that it matters, its going in the hayrack). It was less than $500 new.

Actually when I do have it runnning even my camping buddies have mentioned how quiet it is. If your on the other side of the trailer you don't heard it...The only time I can really hear it is when it pulls on a load other than that I love it.
