I'm going to purchase a generator for my trailer but I can not decide whether to buy a Yamaha EF3000ise (which is $200 dollars cheaper) or a Honda EU3000is. Anyone owning a Yamaha - are they as quiet as the Honda? Thanks so much for your input.

QUOTE: I have a Kipor. Identical to the Honda but cost around $1k (including shipping) GREAT generator!
Dawn! You know if it was "Identical to a Honda" it would say Honda!!
Yes the Yamaha EF3000iseB inverter generator is as bit as quiet as the 3000 watt Honda inverter generator, may be 1 db. quieter at some settings. The extra 500 watts of starting power from the boost feature on the Yamaha comes in handy also. Yamaha comes with wheels. There's not 10 cent worth a difference between the Honda or Yamaha, both are fine units.

I've got the Yamaha EF2400is and it has worked great for 3 years. My friend has the Honda EU3000 and it is a tiny bit quieter at idle, They are both about the same loudness at load.
I see about 9 db at load. I know distance from gen is a factor here but I leave mine on truck bed and even with my gooseneck still hooked up I cant hear it over my roof ac.
But you weren't even asking about the Kipor. So I would say the Honda over the Yamaha. JMHO
I love my kipor gen and got it at a deal on ebay $750.00 plus 100 shipping

Whatever you decide to buy, just remember, there may be others there that don't want to listen to your generator...Count your decibels!! Something to think about..

Our generator is an Onan 4000 quiet one, in the rear tack. It has exhaust piped out the bottom and piped across the bottom to be exited out below the back right rear corner. It is also in an insulated aluminum box, with entry and exit air vents for the cooling fan. The box is constructed per Onan's instructions. It is extremely quiet both inside the trailer listening, and outside. Works wonderfully well. It has remote start in the LQ, and a 20 gal fuel tank in the corner of the under manger storage. This system works very well.

We own a Kipor 3500TI and for the money and amount time used why spend the extra. Most places we go have hookups so I don't even need to haul it. Oh by the way the db is right in there with Honda.

Most of the folks who come to eudurance rides use Honda's. They are the best quality and very quiet, which is really important when there are 200 people camped in a small area. If someone has to run their generator all night, I'd rather be parked next to the guy with the Honda. The model I've seen used the most is the EU2000i; the folks with the AC units on their LQ trailers use the EU3000i. I am going to buy the EU3000i so I can run my AC if I need it. I can use that one at home too during a power outage. Also, Honda generators really hold their value, in case you had to sell it. Just this cowgirl's opinion.

Thanks everyone who has posted. I do appreciate your information. I've decided to go with the Honda EU3000is. Yes its more money but it does hold its resale value should I ever need to sell it and if I'm going to invest in one I might as well get one that runs my air conditioner. I've never used the air, haven't owned the trailer long enough but as long as I have it - hey I might as well be able to use it if I want.
