For those of you who have these units in your trailers... how do you like them? I was considering just getting a shower unit and putting a porta potty inside, and moving it out when the shower is being used. The person doing my LQ/Weekender says I should get the combo unit. Many of my friends say the toilet is more trouble than it's worth and that it takes up shower space and is hard to clean and clean out. My hubby likes the idea of a dedicated toilet, but then again, he doesn't travel with me very often and he's not the one who will be cleaning it. I'm looking for opinions of others who actually have these units. Thanks!!!

I had one in an RV years ago. It was a mess. You ended up sitting on the toilet to take a shower. Then, when you wanted to use the toilet, the floor was always wet. I'd go the porta potti route.

I have one of these in my trailer. Although it is nice to have a dedicated toilet, after taking out the holding tank in a little ditch, I am seriously considering a portapotti. You do have to sit on the toilet to shower, and the floor is wet when you need to use the toilet. BUT if you were to use the same 'room' to use the portapotti in, it would still be wet when you put the potti back in after showering. Only thing I see that would be a lot easier is not having to dump the holding tank. Or clean the holding tank. The toilet itself is easy to clean...at least mine is.
My decision will be made when they tell me how much it is going to cost to fix/replace the holding tank.

I have just installed one in a trailer I'm finishing up, I didn't have a choice it was the only thing that would fit. The trailer is a Cimmaron/CM and the walk-thru door was installed to close to the long wall, so a 1 piece shower(my #1 choice) was not an option, and the crossmembers were installed in a way that the toilet had to be over by the shower or in the middle of the floor(not happening). I don't know about the cleaning or anything but it looks like it would be awkward to use the toilet.

What would happen if you used the space for a toilet, your choice of type, and installed a cowboy shower? This would eliminate the wet area around the toilet and the additional space could be used for storage.

I have one in my Elite Mustang and I love it. I don't find that cleaning it is an issue. We usually take showers before we go to bed so day time toilet use isn't a problem. I and my 6'+ tall husband stand to shower....we don't sit!??? I've done the porta-pottie thing and I'd much rather pull a lever at a waste station than have to carry a porta-pottie in and out of a trailer, not to mention having to take the porta-pottie into a bathroom to dump it!

We have a cowboy shower in the front stall and use a port-a-pot in there also. There is a shower curtain and a catch basin to keep the water isolated. Haven't really used the shower much, but the wife loves not having to leave the trailer at night do do her business. We looked at a trailer with the combo unit, and I can't imagine having to fight the toilet to take a shower. Wife didn't like the idea much either as guys have a tendency to splash, and she didn't want that on her shower floor.

I have a combo unit and use it regularly. While there's not enough room to dance a jig, there is enough space to stand in front of the toilet and shower without issue. I keep an old beach towel in the trailer to wipe down the shower and toilet when done, so no problems with a wet floor/toilet either. For me, the convenience of having both far outweighs the lack of space.

I am new to this, what type of storage unit do you use for your shower water, etc., and where do you store it? Where is a good place to get the refrigerators, sinks, interior lights for the conversion.

I have searched everywhere for a shower/toilet unit, for a diy job, but can't find one anywhere. Anyone know where to buy these? I have tried camping world, rv centers, trailer converstions, etc., ect. That is how I came across this old thread.

My dad had a camper with a combo shower/toilet in it. We loved it. You could sit down and relax and let the hot water run over you, but you also had enough room to stand for showers too. As far as cleaning, he had a scrub brush that he kept in there and just washed the toilet area at the begining of his shower and the Comet (his favorite cleaner) was rinsed off by the shower water. He had a hand held shower head which was great for rinsing everything off. He would use his towel to dry the floor after he used it.

My 4 Star had the complete separate bathroom & I loved it! The Silverlite has the toilet/shower combo ... it is kind of a PITA to have to wipe everything down after a shower, but not that bit of a deal. I always do it immediately & then it's ready for the toilet use again. I also have plenty of room to stand in there - have never sat on the toilet while showering - altho I have thought it may be my "handicapped shower" as I age & my body keeps deteriorating!

I don't know if you've decided to get one or not, but if so, they have them over at www.JazzSales.com. I always look there first. It looks like they have a toilet/shower combo with a holding tank built on, or you can get one without it. I'd give them a call!
