Someone please compare how you would wire a LQ trailer to how you would wire a house. My husband is an electrician and has wired many houses but he's never seen or wired the LQ of a horse trailer. The main areas in question are what needs to be where all the lights and receptacle wires come together inside and also what needs to be the hookup under the gooseneck. So if someone can give me some comparison as to how a house is wired that might help. Thanks!

Wiring a trailer LQ is a bit more complex than a simple house circuit. You are dealing with two different voltages, one ac 110v and the other 12v dc. The dc runs off of both sources, whether it is the installed battery or shore power. There are inverters/converters to consider, the appliances you select, and two different types of lighting.
While volume wise, the materials would only equal that of a small room, they are varied and relatively complex. Each installation would have different requirements depending on the many variables in its construction.
To explain a simple circuit would be difficult. Books on RV electrical would be apropos to a trailer LQ and should be of special interest for a DIYer.

I goggled bus conversions and found a site that sells books on everthing the DIYer might need to do their own bus conversions. Also found a book called Managing 12 Volts by Harold Barre that is full of 12 volt info.Hope that helps.
