I read somewhere that you can use the backup cameras that mount on the license plate in the back of a horse trailer, but now cannot find the thread where folks have done this.

Has anybody done this?

thanks! Sorry for the incomplete thought--I actually already have one, but was wondering if they work ok for the trailer?

A buddy of ours bought one for his LQ trailer but it wouldn't work properly since the LQ obstructed the transmission. He put it on his stock trailer instead so he could at least use it.

We tried the wireless trailer camera system back in 2003. Nothing but a headache. So we went hard wire due to the size of the trailer and the fact that the truck had a hardwire system installed when we bought it. I am so pleased with the hard wire system.

Now if I could just decide which barn camera system to go with!

One thing to be aware of in Texas, if the camera is in a license plate frame and the frame touches ANY part of the words TEXAS or LONE STAR STATE on the license plate, you will be ticketed by law enforcement.  Guess how I know!

I put one inside my stock trailer and it works great to watch my kids. I bought mine from Wally World for 100 bucks. I believe it is recomended to be used up to 19 feet from the monitor (which is how far away it is). It does pick up interference here and there in town but out on the highway, perfect.

Thanks so much--i'm hoping it will work swimmingly. I'm just finding myself getting nervous when I have horses I dont know well back there, the bumps and bangs have me pulling over constantly to check. Even off and on viewing will be better than nothing.
thanks so much!
