Hello there everyone,
I'm looking for a SL trailer for my 16H Walking Horse. I found a 6'6" trailer that is perfect, but I'm not sure it is tall enough for him. Should I hold out for a taller trailer, or would this be OK? Is there a rule on how much clearance you want over their head?

your horse will be like a sardine in a 6'6" trailer - Do NOT buy that trailer. Years ago before I had a trailer, I loaded my 15.2 stout long bodied QH in a 6'6" trailer and he barely fit - after one trip he refused to go back in that trailer and he had jumped in the first time.
Please do not even consider a trailer under 7' tall - and the taller the better. Besides being too short, chances are the stalls won't be long enough either as those older trailers tended to have only 5' stalls.

I have a 7'4" tall and 6'6" wide 4h Slant Circle J (4000lbs, All Aluminum): we only haul 2 horses in it by removing one of the divider and locking in place the last one against the left wall. The horses are a 16'2" NSH and a Percheron about the same height(or more) but much wider...and still growing(4yrs old)
Nedless to say the almost touch with their heads the frame of the loading area, but they load very calmly so it's not a big problem
i would get a a 7' or more as it's also better for resale....plus tall people also feel cramped in 6'6"(personal note)
