How ofter do you folks recharge your emergency brake-away battery? I installed a new battery on both horse trailers back in November of 2006, they are both showing a good charge but feel like they could stand a topping-off every six months of so. My flat bed equipment trailer has a charger mounted next to the battery so when the trailer cord is plugged into the truck, it recharges or maintains the battery. The charger has an amber light that shows that it's charging and a green light that shows fully charged. These are 5 amp batteries, so a 1 amp trickle charger should top these batteries off in about 5 hours or less....No?....Yes?....Maybe?

I put mine on a battery tender till it shows the green light. I did it your way before I had it. You don't want to throw to many amps at it to long for sure!

The battery on my trailer is a gel battery it charger up evertime that it is hook up to the truck. If I am going to use the trailer I sometime just hook the electric up to charge the battery
