Need some suggestions on gaining access to some riding facilities.  I would like to start taking one of my horses places to ride so that he can get used to other horses and all kinds of commotion going on.  I don't want to be a nuisance hanging around the area playday or horseshow while others are "taking care of business" and I'm showing up with a nit-wit who's acting silly and acting a fool and I don't want to go out trail riding as I'd be alone and this guy is just off the track and I'm kinda rusty...    One friend said that some indoor arenas allow folks to come and use their facilities at certain times.  I'm looking into this, but have any of you had any experience with this?  Finding safe, "educational" places to ride?

Where exactly are you?  I know some barns in the Fort Worth area that would allow you to "rent" arena space but nothing in Dallas.  Depending on what kind of riding you do, if you go to some "schooling" type shows they will allow you to ride between classes or in a warm up arena for a fee.  Curragh Eq Center here in FW has schooling days for eventers but others can go to just ride around the x-c field, cost is around $30.  www.curragh.com for dates.  Fieldstone in Mansfield also has schooling shows.

I'm actually in the Corsicana area, but I'm from the DFW area so a little traveling is not a problem.  I checked out Willow Draw (in Weatherford) this weekend (beautiful facility) but need to get a better handle on my guy before I travel 4 hrs round trip to do training on just the basics.  I'll check on the ones you suggested.  Thanks.

Check with some of the Cowboy Churches in your area. Several of them have weekly events that I'm sure you would be welcomed at. Another event to go to is one of the small rodeos around on the weekends-not to compete, but just to be around other horses and people; might even ride in the Grand Entry. Notfromtexas's post about Curraghand Fieldstone is good advice, also.
