I have a 2001 Chevy silverado 6.0L V8 Dually with 52,000 miles on it. I'm installing a gooseneck hitch on it any am looking for any suggestions to get more horsepower from it. Do those K+N air filters work or superchips? Any help would be great.

A 6.0 gas in a dually........There ain't much more you can do to it, you got what you got. The K&N may help you get a couple horsepower at or above 5000 rpm, but I don't thing it will last too long running at that rpm. So far as a "chip, tuner, programmer", a "Wait for Me" or "Westers" reprogramed PCM would be the way to go but they are tuned for stop light to stop light competition rather than towing. If you have one reprogramed that makes any kind of HP gain, then towing is pretty much out of the question and you will have to burn that HI-DOLLA 93 octane benzine laced hydocarbon! You can spend a thousand dollars or more real quick on "snake oil", magic spark plugs, miracle air filters, etc. and still have gained no more than 10-15 hp. In that size of a truck pulling anything I'll doubt you would ever notice a difference in any kind of power gain. Your best bet is to "not over do it" with the gooseneck trailer, leave a little early, Be patient when the "oil burners", V10's and "Big Block" V8 gassers ease by you on the hills and the interstate. Check your owners manual for your GCVWR, for a fifth wheel hitch vehicle that has the same body configuration, engine, trans, and rear axle ratio as the truck like yours. The 6.0's are rated somewhat less than the Duramax and 8.1's when it comes to towing.

You were think about how good of a price it was!! It has the same GVWR, 11,400# as the 8.1 and duramax trucks, just different GCVWR, it don't have the "Allison", you probably got 4.10 gears. Like I said, don't get in too big of a hurry and don't hang a 30' stock trailer behind it packed full of bred hefers!

Do a webb search for BANKS power products and call them to see what they may or may not have for the Chevy 6.0. Get in touch with BANKS direct to start with not a Banks dealer.
