If your tow vehicle is already pre-wired for a trailer plug in, you can install the brake box yourself.  The harness should already be under the dash.  Just mount and plug in.  Or take it to any mechanic, or trailer place.

OK thanks, unfortunately hubby is an accountant, I think I will just take it in, just wasn't sure if any place was better than another.

Thanks

I would take it to a trailer place, as they install the majority of brake controllers.

I would also get the  Tekonsha Prodigy. I don't know what make truck you have, but I have a 2002 Ford 350 and installed my Prodigy in the little compartment below and to the right of the dash. I drilled a 1" hole in the back to pull the connector, and it looks built in.

Trailer places wouldn't touch my BrakeSmart.  I had to take it to the dealer because it ties into the brake's hydraulic lines to sense pedal pressure.  No big deal.  Best brake controller I've ever had.
