This is off topic but I thought with all the hauling folks on here someone might know.
My company needs an escort for an oversize load traveling from Florence, SC to Wilmington, NC. We have one escort truck for this purpose but it is going with another load. I've done an internet search and come up short. The Yellow Pages were no help either.
Any ideas other than but the equipment for a personal vehicle? I'd love a contact name and phone number.

My husband used to haul oversized loads and he would check the bullitin boards at the truck stops. You can also look in the phone book but make sure you are calling for a vehicle escort!! My husband made that mistake once and it was hilliarous!!!! He was on the phone for a few minutes looking confused and when it dawned on him..... I wish I had taken a picture of his face when he realized what he had called.

I think there are special licensing requirements, at least in SOME states. You can't just do it with a regular "car" drivers license and a flasher on top of a regularly licensed "car".
Web search for "escort vehicle" and/or "pilot car" and the state letters (SC & NC) should turn up something useful.
