Where I keep my horses the barn owner has a 2000 PlayDay trailer for sale. It is a dark green 2 horse straight load with feed mangers. And a bottom front area to put tack, feed, and other stuff. She wants $950 for it. The mats are in good condition and the outside of the trailer barely has a strach or dent. But the 'tack' area has a large rust spot and kinda smelled damp. Even with the rust spot and the damp smell $950 isn't a whole lot for a horse trailer. I've never tried to load my girls in a straight load but she said I could make sure they would load before I paid. And even though my bay is big her sorrel gelding is bigger and rides in the trailer comfy. What are you guys thoughts? This a good buy?

Where is the rust? Can you see where the water is comming from? Even with those repairs to make it sounds like a good deal. Has she let you pull it to see how it feels(if it pulls straight and not off/jerky)?

Sounds like a good buy if the only thing is some rust. You can treat the rust and paint it and reseal the doors or whereever it is leaking from.Good luck!!

Thats what I was thinking.. I am going to go look under the mats tomorrow at the floor. Maybe get pictures of it. Overall it's a good buy if the floor is intact. I've had my horses for 5 years now. I believe it's about time to get a trailer.. So I'm hoping the leak is just in the tack area and not in the stalls.

If it is a 2000 model, it may be due for new tires if they haven't been replaced yet. There are some threads on this forum about safety and dry rot.
So be sure to factor in the price of new tires, if needed.

Sounds like it may be a CM if it is a playday... pretty good trailers for BP two horse. Get some naval jelly to spray on the rust areas.. clean them and let dry and caulk around if there are leaks anywhere in the tack area or anywhere. Check the wood floor for any rot and replace boards with 2"X6" treated lumber or "Rumber" a synthetic board used on areas exposed to a lot of moisture. If you can find a useable trailer for under $2,500. you are doin ok. Good luck!
