I was in my office and our CFO came in talking about a plane hitting one of the towers. We went to the conference room and were watching a live report when the second plane hit.

I will never forget that.

I had just filled My cup with coffe and was walking into the living room and saw it on tv,i was in disbelief too untill the second plane hit.

What was a real shock is when the whole building fell down!

Who would have ever thought that would happen to such a huge building.

I have been a Federal Police Officer for the Department of the Army for 25 years now. My job and my life changed completly that day from a defensive to an offensive posture. God bless America.

I was in my office.  My brother called me and said, "Put on the t.v.". (I have a small one in a cabinet). Words cannot describe the feeling.  Then I realized that my son was working near the pentagon that day.  I made a frantic call to him on his cell phone and it just so happened that he was running late and was in route to D.C........Thank God..................

God bless America..........

I was going to work after doing some paperwork at the house, walked in my garage and heard a plane hit the WTC on the radio, ran back in the house and turned on the news. Didn't leave the house all day. I was in the Marines when they blew up the Embassy in Lebanon. I spent 2 weeks picking up pieces of bodies from that one, we really need to wake up in the United States and stop this madness going on in the world, if that requires a big whole in the earth somewhere than so be it.

My oldest brother worked in the Pentagon on 9/11, thankfully his office was on the opposite side of the building. It took a couple of days to reach him. I was on the first plane out of Denver after 9/11 which was a week later. Landing in Detroit, there were National Guard with machine guns and German Shepard's.

We've been so protected from mass violence in this country, and now we have a glimpse of what Europe saw in the world wars. It does surprise me that the major conflict in the world isn't about hunger, oil or even gold, it's religious views. I think it's our freedom of religion that separates us the most. Can you imagine Iran with freedom of religion or even Afghanistan? The oldest countries in the world are the most suppressed.

God Bless the USA and pass the ammunition

There are many times when I am riding my horse on a beautiful day that I look around me and think how lucky we are in the US compared to other places. I am so fortunate to live here and so grateful to all of those who help make it safe for us.

I remember-I was out in the barn, feeding and a girlfriend came flying up the drive in her truck, screaming....when she calmed down enough to tell me - I immediately came inside and watched the 2nd plane hit the tower and just could hardly believe what I saw. My heart and soul go out to the families and friends that lost loved ones that day....and my heartfelt thanks to all the men and women who are still working so hard to allow me to live the life I've chosen in the LAND OF THE FREE!God Bless America, land that I love, stand beside her and guide her.....

I was having new carpet installed and we were watching CNN.  The carpet guy asked, "What is a Pentagon?" Oh well, he did a good job on the carpet.

Hubby was an OTR trucker at the time and he was in Chicago. The news reports kept saying Chicago was to be the next target. I couldn't reach him on the cell phone and I was so frantic. Knowing how I felt until I finally reached him, I can't even imagine what the families of the victims went through.

God bless America........America bless God!

I was eating breakfast at a Bob Evans in Medina Ohio with a business associate before heading to a customers shop when all the sudden a tray crashed to the ground, and we heard glass breaking as the waitress looking up at the TV behind the counter screamed "Oh my God, a plane just hit the WTC!". We wer shocked. After the second plane hit we headed to our customers shop, where they were becoming frantic after hearing about Flight 93 in Penn. Turns out the owners wife's parents lived in the community and they were trying to reach them. We never did any woork that day, just sat in a conference room staring in dissbelief and anger. I pray that God be with the families of those who passed away thay day.

I woke up that morning, flipped on the TV and was shocked to see Tom Brokaw.  Immediately I knew something bad had happened.  Took a few minutes to compute everything (I didn't wake up until the towers had already been hit).  I ran to the phone and realized there were 3 missed calls at 5:30 AM (PST) from my sister who had moved to SFO from New York a week earlier.  Her studio apartment in Lower Manhattan had been nearly destroyed.

WTC was one of the stops on her subway route to work.   The difference a few days can make... Geez... I can't even begin to comprehend how the people in NYC and elsewhere felt when they couldn't get in touch with anyone.

An overwhelming panic that no human should have to feel.

I remeber the feeling of being connected with everyone without having to say a word.

Maybe on this 5th anniversary we can try to re-connect, as the country feels divided.

God bless America and the freedoms we sometimes take for granted.

Just got into my truck after my morning ride and were listening to the morning show on the radio just before the second plane hit. Thought it was a joke at first because of the nature of the guys on the radio. Got home and tuned into the TV and found out it was not a joke.

I was on my way to work as a fire captain when I heard the news on the radio. We had no idea what the next target was and if we might become directly involved. I was never so proud of being a firefighter as I was that day when 343 of my brother firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice. may they rest in peace, and may this country never forget them.

I agree, if it takes a big hole in the earth some where to put an end to terrorism, then so be it. Just think; a BIG bomb, a little nuclear fusion, a LOT of sand and we could make the biggest punch bowl you've ever seen for the party I want to attend!!!!!!!

I was on my way to work--I worked at a flower shop at the time--& I thought "no way---there has GOT to be a mistake".  Turned on our little TV at work & about that time the second plane hit.  I was sooooo angry!!!!!!!!!Could not believe that someone could do that to our GREAT NATION---my thoughts were "are they just friggin nuts?  Do they not know the force they are dealing with??"  5 years later & I am STILL fighting mad---Big hole over there?  YOU BET---GET OUR BOYS OUT OF THERE & LET THEM HAVE IT & STOP LETTING THEM COME OVER HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  What is really bad is looking at them & not punching them right in the kisser...no maybe they weren't involved in all of the destruction & horror---but as far as I am concerned, after 9-11, they don't need to be here!!!  This country is for Americans---I am proud to have been born & raised here & raised my kids here---God bless our troops & they really need to come home so no more of them get killed over there---senselessly. Every time I hear about another soldier dying over there, it just makes me nautious...

I was living in western Oklahoma then, I wasn't at the feedlot that day for whatever reason.  I was actually in the tub that morning with the radio on and heard the news, at first they made it sound like a small personal plane had an accident...then...the second plane hit and all hell broke loose.  We didn't have a T.V. then, just a radio to listen to so all of this played out in my head and imagination!  It was nearly a week later before I was to a television set to see actual photos and video of all of this.  Those days of the sounds making my mind imagine things were some I'll never forget, and the instant feeling that the country, if not the world had changed, from the instant lines at the gas stations to the small, often meaningless conversations that took place with complete strangers, cause the days and weeks thereafter we WERN'T strangers, we were AMERICANS and that seemed to be all that we needed to have in common!  We all need to remember those feeling, and strive to live like that every day.

I pray that God will continue to be with our country, soldiers, and President, every day!

I just woke up and for some reason we had a small television in the kitchen that morning. I was walking out the door and saw a plane hit the building and said "Holy ****" to put it simple. Then I went to school and all my teachers were talking about it and wouldn't turn the television on to watch it. At the time I wanted to watch it, but I dont know now if I would want to watch it all unfold live again.

I was volunteering at my children's elementary school when someone came in and said we all need to come to the library and see whats happening. It was so hard for the teachers, they were all crying and the students were asking why . The principal made an announcment to the teachers to calmly explain to the children what was going on. Some of the parents were upset because they didn't want their children to know but I felt it was better than the teachers and all the adults walking around crying and not telling them. I was so glad to be at the school close to my children!!

My nephew took the train into the WTC every morning. He arrived and fortunately left the building to walk the couple blocks to work just a half hour before the first plane hit. He saw the towers fall and had to walk over the B bridge to try to get home. We are thankful that he was on the earlier train but feel terrible for the families that lost loved ones. This was a wake up call for us as a nation. There are some really fanatical crazies out there that want to destroy our way of life. Let's CLOSE the borders NOW!

I was a sophmore in highschool, it was like 20mins into my first class which was science. When my homeroom/math teacher came in and told my teacher to turn on the tv. That was after the first plane hit. I saw the second plane hit and the towers fall. We basicly didn't do anything that day in class's, we mainly watched tv. I dont think i will ever forget that day.
