Just bought a 1993 Sundowner Sunlight 6 horse trailer. It has 8 lug 6.5 bolt pattern with std 16" tires. Whats  the most offset on a wheel i can use on this trailer? Also can i use a 245/75/R16 tire on this trailer or will this make it too low? Also does anyone know what the lug nut specififications are also? Right now it has 235/85/R16 on it but they are worn out and i want to jazz it up with some nice aluminum or chrome wheels. Thanks so much and God Bless. Jerry

I would be more concerned about being able to get the proper load range tire in that size,6 horses is a lot of weight,it is easy to loose a tire on a long haul from heat build up on a tire meant more for looks than towing.

Hi and Welcome to the Forum.
It is very likely to have axles and rims that are so close to 102" with the stock tires that going wider (whether by phatter tires or more offset rims) would put it over the legal width limit. You could look up and compare the dimensions of 235/85R16 vs 245/75R16 to know what height difference it would produce, but as a rough approximation work with 85% of 235mm vs 75% of 245mm. Only count this ONCE, since it is axle height that is affected, not diameter. The fatter and lower tire would also produce different handling characteristics that you might not want on a horse trailer.
There is also the issue of what the proper tire pressure should be.

Summary: Not worth messing with, stick with stock specs and equipment, it is adequate.

May YOUR Gods also bless YOU.
