I have your basic 3 horse gooseneck with 4' SW dressing room. I plan to use the first stall (next to the tack room bulkhead) for storage. When hauling a single horse, should it be in the middle or last stall for the best weight distribution? Seems like the middle stall would be directly over the axles, but the last stall is bigger and would be more comfortable for the horse.

I would venture to say all manufactuers trailers are designed to haul a single horse in any stall. Your preference. If it is designed to haul 4 it can haul 1 in any spot.

I have the same set-up as you do, first stall for storage and I use the second when I haul one horse. Leaves the last stall open and easy to access my horse but I don't think it matters where you put them.

I always figuered the middle stall would be the most comfortable because the horse has open areas on both sides to spread their feet farther apart for better stability.

The only reason that I don't put a single horse in the rear is just thinking of getting run over from the rear in a wreck, when hauling a trailer full of animals there isn't anyway to not put one in the back.
Most all goosenecks are heavy enough on the nose to not worry about where to put a single animal.
I have a four horse and the front two stalls are full of everything from camping gear to cooking grills to fire wood to just everything including some times a four wheeler. I bought a four horse just to haul more junk and I never haul more than two animals.

I have always chosen to put the horse in the most medial spot for more breathing room and better access. However, I agree with the other comments, it shouldn't make a difference where you put them.
