Does the DOT in the Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska area tend to pick on horse trailer haulers to pull into scalehouses to weigh them?
I know thy just let the RV'ers blow right on by the scalehouse, no matter how overloaded they look. Just wondering if the Horse Lobby has the same clout.

I usually don't stop, but have been stopped for brand papers and health paper in all Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana. Had one trooper in Colorado wanted me to unload along the hiway to check brands. I politely told him no, but would go to the nearest sale barn or arena.

We're trying to upgrade from a slide-in truck camper towing a trailer which is WAY overloaded by the camper, to a 3H LQ gooseneck which would be consirderably LESS overloaded. They don't bother RV's out there (yet), was wondering about Horse Trailers.
We'd be getting a 3H LQ trailer with a 12 ft. shortwall for an overall floor length of 26 ft. This isn't as big looking as a lot of RV's I've seen towed on a single rear wheel truck around here, so I think that would work out OK.
Truck is a SRW with suspension upgrades and currently handles the weight of the camper/trailer combo OK, but I'm worried about the liability aspects of being over the trucks GVWR.
I know, I know, just go out and buy a Dually truck...But then I can't afford BOTH the new truck AND a 3H LQ GN trailer.
Decisions, decisions...
