Seriously, I bought a 7 pin "Extension Cord" at an RV place and routed it from the standard back of the truck location to very near to the gooseneck ball. Since I have a platform bed with a trap door I cable tied it to one of the trap door's hinge rods. This allows me to coil the trailer's cable in a very loose wrap around the column so I can do those 90 degree turns without worrying about anything pulling tight. It also saves the trailer's cable from fatigue, I'd rather repalce that extension cord than the trailer's main cord.
I know, its another 2 connections and (theoretically) more voltage drop in the cable, but I keep the connections clean and gooped up with silicon grease and it IS heavy wire.

I actually had two plugs wired up in parallel, one is in the bed just in front of the wheel well on the driver’s side and the other is in the regular location at the back.
I haven't gotten the gooseneck yet (this week I think - can't wait), so I can't comment on how much I like it, but it sure looks convenient.

Mine is located on the inside of the bed column near the tailgate(left side). I thought that was a good place as you don't have to climb in the bed or over the side to plug in., but depending on where your plug comes from on your particular trailer maybe towards the front corner of the bed would work . My location does put it in the way of anything I may haul in the bed near the tailgate while pulling my trailer.

That's where mine is. I just make sure I don't throw anything on top of it and have never had a problem with the wire pulling tight during turns. It stays nice and loose and usually has a coil in it.

My connection is inside the bed of our truck also. Mounted aft of the wheel well on the drivers side. I like it there because like already stated, you can plug it in and take it out without lowering the tail gate. The cable from the trialer hangs straight down from the goosneck into the bed of the truck and any excess length lays flat on bed safe from possible damage from rubbing on anything or falling loose and dragging on the ground. With this location, my cable has lots of slack also for tight turns and there is no chance of binding. When I had my gooseneck ball mounted in the bed of this truck I had the same people put this hookup in. They wired it into an existing hookup that is mounted on my rear hitch for bumper pull trailering.
