Any nice campgrounds around Destin area? Would like stalls for horses since we would be leaving campground often to visit family. Saw Arnett's Gulfside Trail Rides. Not real good reviews. Thanks

We've been searching also for the same reason. While down there in Sept. we went and visited Coldwater Recreation Area in the Blackwater Forest. It's about 1 hr. from Niceville which is close to Destine. About 45 min. north of Pensacola. Nice campground, stalls, water, elec, dump station. nice bath houses. Very nice people work there. Can make reservations without money and cancel anytime. They do have organizations use it a lot and sometimes it might be filled up. If you know if and when you want to go they suggest you make your reservations.

Marianna Caverns State Park has trails and camping sites. Seems to me they have a small barn. It's in the Panhandle of Florida and has the added attraction of the caverns you can tour. A spring fed lake with a swimming area is right across from the horse area also. Amelia Island, just north of Jacksonville, has beach riding and a paved parking area for horse trailers. I don't know about camping areas there since it's a day trip for me. The beach there is beautiful and relatively free from people. Check out Florida State Forests as there are numerous places for horse camping.

I second the recommendation for Coldwater Recreation in Blackwater State Forest. They have over a hundred stalls and paddocks, round-pen, pastures, wash racks, nice camping facilities, and well-marked trails. We go there all the time. I've only been to Florida Caverns in Marianna once. We enjoyed the trails, but there's only about a dozen stalls. They have lots of camp sites, but only a couple near the stalls.
