Hi all, I have a question about horse trailer plug wiring. I have a 1991 4star hirse trailer that had the plug pulled off. The schematic shown on the trailer is for a 6 pin plug but the one that was pulled off is a 7 pin. Of course I didn't see how the wires were before the plug pulled off.So, my question is to get a plug back on it so it can be used, should I put on a 6 pin since that's what the side of the trailer shows? Or is there some reason to put a 7pin back on? There are only 6 wires and I don't know how exactly to do a 7 pin with only 6 wires.Thank you!

The seventh pin is usually for backup lights...not common on a horse trailer. Etrailer. com has many diagrams showing trailer plug wiring. Most trucks these days have a 7 blade receptacle....check your truck and get the appropriate connector.

I would check each wire to see that the function is what you expect it to be. Sometimes the wire color does not match the diagram or the wires have been moved around.
