Trailer sat for a few weeks with a switch on that drained batteries to dead. Plugged trailer in to shore power, but the inverter did not charge them. Never heard it come on. Yes, I checked all the 12 volt reset buttons, and the flip switch that will turn off the 12 volt system. So, I charged the batteries with a battery charger. Hooked back up to trailer, but it seems the inverter is still not working. Husband suggests that maybe one batter is dead for good, and we will check its voltage, but is that a possibility? If a battery is bad, or dead for good, the inverter will not even attempt to charge it?As an "aside", I could not get the trailer jack to work while plugged into the shore power, or to the truck. It works now that I charged batteries. (meanwhile I found how to do manual over ride with hydraulic. Took awhile to crank it up, but now I know how)

Hi...if one battery is dead, it will literally suck the life out of the good one. Take all batteries out and charge each separately. After one hour, check charge on each battery. Do the same 24 hours later...that will tell you if one is dead or bad
The converter may have blown a fuse trying to charge a bad battery...check fuse in converter.
Trailer jack needs batteries...converter won't run motor by itself.

All good! So I learned if the batteries are pretty done in, the inverter will not keep running trying to charge them. We checked new batteries with meter, turned on all the lights in trailer for a couple hours, ran batteries down a little, plugged in the trailer to shore power, and the inverter started running to recharge. Learned something new!
