The roof in my trailer was leaking last year. I've covered it with a tarp since last Fall, so hopefully everything has dried out by now. I have a few questions -I like the idea of using Eternabond tape, and/or painting the roof white, both of which should seal the seams. Do I need to remove all the old sealing material before using either of these? I also have never washed the roof and hesitate to get up there and hose it down as I don't want to get water into the insulation in the roof. If using just the tape can I clean the area where it will stick with something like rubbing alcohol? Would the tape be able to form a waterproof seal around the vents? What is the typical life span of the tape, and what am I facing down the road when the time comes to remove it and replace it? Thanks!

I just used the Eternabond tape after two cycles of OEM caulk over ten years. I removed all the old caulk with a wire cup brush both times. The only issue I've had with the tape is at the front edge of the roof. Air pressure lifts the leading edge. I'm trying a piece of alum tape that covers the Eternabond tape edge and further down the front vertical surface.
