My LQ trailer was damaged in a recent tornado.  It could have been a whole worse, so I aint complaining.  Two painted panels were probably dented to the point of needing replaced.  Its an aluminum trailer, but the damage was on the the painted parts.  I'm not sure what those sections are made of.  The drains for the plumbing were also tore off.  Does anyone have a suggestion of where to take it to get it fixed?  I live in western Ky.  The insurance company didn't have anyone in mind to do the work.

When we had damage from a wind storm blowing the barn doors into our trailer, the only option was thru the manufacturer. Some dealers can do it, but since these skins are very hard to ship, it is better off just taking it to the manufacturer IMO.
Our insurance company called them to get get prices to replace so they would be close on damage $.
Our trailer skins where glued on with 3M tape and was interesting watching them take the skins off....way difficult without the right tools.

Good luck.

Thanks.  This is a silver Star.  Manufacturer went out of business, I heard.

Yes, Silver Star is no longer. Most dealers with a good shop facility can do the work on your trailer. Skin can be shipped in trailers from manufacturers when that dealer takes delivery on a new trailer. You might have to be patient for when a dealer gets a new trailer delivered; but that's better than paying prohibitive shipping charges.

I had a trailer that had bad hail damage and it was a steel trailer so the whole roof had bad pings. The insurance handle it where in order to fix it, it would have had to be sent back to the manufacturer because they would have had to replace the whole roof and it had a living quarters so it would have involved removing cabinets etc. Part of the settlement also included the shipping cost that would have been involved to ship it back.

Bigfoot- we see that type of repair frequently. While we are not "next door" in Shelbyville, TN., if you need us, let us know 931-685-4040One point- replacing those skin sheets will be with shiny new skin. It often does not match exactly, even if we were able to get it from Silver Star (which has closed as you've heard). In fact, it varies from lot to lot, much like tiles or bricks. This has become a sticky point between shops, trailer owners, and insurance adjusters in recent years as we are repairing older trailers. We've not seen an answer that seems to make everyone happy all the time.RTSmithSelect Trailer Co.

Rt-------The trailer is still land locked by some piles of storm cleanup.  My goal this afternoon is to get it out.   You may be the closest place to work on it.
