Hey folks,

I'm in state of Washington and have been searching since last fall for a horse trailer, and not having much luck. Wondering if, in general, used trailer availability increases any particular time of year? Do more trailers come on the market in the spring (like house sales)?

I'm looking for a 2000+ 4Star 2 horse slant gooseneck, and have seen a handful I would have jumped on, all on east coast or southeastern part of the country. Currently looking at a C&C trailer (1100 miles away), and wondering if I should hold tight until spring to see if more come on the market closer to home.

I sure enjoy this sight for your input and experience.

Thx

We bought a used 4 Star trailer after searching for new and used for almost two years. We finally found one that included most of our bucket list details. Our Exiss took over a half a year to find, and we were quite fortunate to end up with what we purchased. Our Sidekick was the result of a several month search.

The used market selection varies, with many trailers being first advertised after the winter eases. If you have specific needs, it may take a while to find what you want. If you limit your search to only a few brands that are the "best", you may not find what you want. There are many more good manufacturers than bad, and judging a particular trailer based on its condition and record instead of name, may provide you with an ideal product that you initially hadn't considered.

You need patience and the possibility of having to travel a distance to find your ideal trailer. If you settle for less than your needs because of time issues, you may be displeased with your purchase and want to soon replace it. Take the time to find what you want, and not just what is available. It may turn out to be a "keeper", providing a long and enjoyable service life.
