I have a 2008 F-250 6.4L with 10.5 Sterling 3.73 open diff. The open diff leaves so much to be desired if you're on anything but dry pavement. The fact that the truck also has traction control also contributed to a $500 rear brake overhaul last year.I'm ready to pry off that cover and wrestle this thing out.We don't do any real off-roading but I want to improve traction on wet roads, snow/ice, and wet grass.I'm considering a few options:- Detroit/Eaton True-Trac $550- Detroit/Eaton Posi-grip $500- Auburn Posi $450?- Ford used Traction-Lok $300?I'd like to know your thoughts. If they're all a very good improvement over the stock open diff, then I'll shop for the most economical option and put the money elsewhere.

I was never very happy with the Limited Slip axles on my 2000, 2003 or 2006 F350's. But I am impressed with the Electronic Locking rear axle on my 2011 truck. Pull the button and it locks both rear wheels up to 25 mph, where it automatically unlocks.

Our SD Ford has the factory stock limited slip differential, which has worked very well since new. It was one of the best options we ticked off.
There are many sources of information about which after market differentials are the best. The Internet and several magazines have reviews about what has worked well, when the originals were replaced. Depending upon YOUR usage, some are more apropos than others. None of the swaps are inexpensive, so you will want to pick the best one you can from the git go.
