I have been looking for a diagram of the wiring to install my 12v battery and breakaway switch to my horse trailer. My battery has a red side and a blk side. I understand so far that I should take one wire fr the breakaway and splice it into the blue wire on my junction box fr the brakes. The other wire on the breakaway being wired onto a wire that will be the hot wire (red side of battery?). I also want it to be able to get a charge fr my 7 pole connector fr the vehicle, so I am not sure how to test which slot is the one that will be giving the charge from the vehicle side to the trailer connector. I would assume that my blk side of the battery will have a wire going to ground on the trailer and then the hot wire (red side of battery) will have a spliced connection that goes to the brakes and also another wire that is receiving the charge from the vehicle. Is this correct?

This should help. You can verify the terminals with a DC volt meter or DC test light.
