Is there a specific type to purchase? Can I purchase through an auto zone types store? This is for a C & C 2006.

Thanks so much

If you have Dexter Axles, then call Dexter at (574) 295-7888 they'll ask you your axle model and then they'll tell you what model brake pads you need...:)

I went to a large trailer store and asked for trailer brake shoes, they said if the brakes are worn so would be the magnets and it would be cheaper to buy the assembly rather than the shoes and magnets. You could find the assemblies on ebay.

To answer your question. Yes auto parts stores have trailer brake parts.

And yes it's usually a better deal to just buy the whole brake assembly,  Much faster to install, new magnets and all new hardware, And usually not that much more money.

I just tell my auto parts store guy that I need 12" x 2" assemblies  ( which is the size for the 5,200 to 7,000 lbs axles)  And whether I need a left or right ( usually I do both at the same time)  he orders them in and I have them that afternoon.

The last time I checked it was like $47 dollars for just the shoes and $65 for the whole new assemblys

I just replaced the brakes on my stock. We decided to just replace the whole assembly.
