Any advice on electric or hydraulic jacks? I would like to convert our trailer from manual to one of these but want to know if electric will do the trick rather than having to spend $$$$$ on a hydraulic one for now. We have a 3 horse living quarters gooseneck. Also, any advice on where to get one would be great!! :)

Hydraulic! If you lose power, the electric jacks have such a long gear ratio that it will take you forever to crank your jacks up or down. We knew someone with straight electric and they hated it. We have hydraulic and love it.

On the average, a single leg hydraulic unit will run just about twice what a single speed electric jack will run. The differences is speed of operation with a hydraulic unit, as compared to an electric. An electric will pull more juice from your batteries than a hydraulic; as the electric depends on it's energy from yopur batteries, whilc the hydraulic unit is only taking a small amount of 12 volt juice to run the little hydraulic pump. There is less maintenance with the hydraulic units also. Our shop installs twice the hyd, units than it does electrics.
