I'm looking to upgrade to an aluminium 2 horse with basic living quarters. I have a Sundowner in mind with 5' LQ that has the following:
Axle Size 5,200 LB
Approx Weight 5,800 LB
GVWR 10,400 LBS
I currently have a 1/2 ton Silverado. My problem is that I can't afford to upgrade both my pickup and trailer right now, so I am checking out the option of light LQ trailers that I could pull with my 1/2 ton. Any comments/advice would be appreciated. Thanks for the help!

I have the 2011, so the trailer would max out before the pickup, I guess my main concerns would be how hard it's going to pull, and how well the pickup handles the weight at those upper ranges. Does anyone have experience pulling a similar trailer with a half-ton?

I have the same truck, with 2 horses you will run out of payload before you have to worry about anything else. These trucks pull pretty well with the 6 speeds but pin weight is a killer for 1/2 tons.If you was to stay legal get accurate pin weight otherwise you might be leaving your passengers at home.

Thanks for the help guys!
The dealer estimated about 25% of the trailer would be tongue weight, which once loaded would put me right near the upper limit of the payload capacity of my pickup. The trailer is exactly what I'm looking for at a price that I'm happy with. I just don't want to buy a trailer that's too heavy for my pickup.
