The hot water in my LQ smells like rotten eggs. This only happens with my hot water lines. It does not happen with my cold water lines. Any idea what's causing this and how I can correct it? The water that I put into my tank is not smelly.

Thanks for your help in advance

I found that when I filled my freshwater tank with well water it would have that smell in the hot water.  Using city water, I never had this.

What you have going on is a bacteria growing in your hot water tank. You need to Hyper Clorinate. Otherwise it will only keep getting worse..

These bacteria's can become dangerous if not dealt with.

Check to see if your hot water heater has a anode rod. When these need to be replaced you will get the rotten egg or sulfur smell from the hot water only lines. If your hot water heater has some age on it this is very likely the cause.

Hope this helps, Paul
