I have emailed Trails West in the past with odd questions on my Trails West, and part needs, and they have been terrific to work with. They even sent me the blue prints of my trailer when I needed to find support beams to attach an over head tie arm. They will ship parts direct, or let you know where a nearby dealer is, and ship to them.

I gave Trails West a call ad they were less than helpful. The guy on the phone told mw there was no way he would know what kind of spring a '98 had on it and my only option was to go to a trailer part store....... I only have one in town and they don't have it but I do have the WWW but can find no pictures of anything like it. Any thoughts?
Look above the door. The two tabs that hold the door rod to the door frame are broken off. The thing is made of pot metal so I can't weld it or fab an new one. I'll have to replace the whole deal.

I would imagine that is a fairly standard hinge thing. I had considered taking mine off my 2001, as my tack on the 2007 does not have one. But I'm guessing there are issues without it??

Actually what I did tonight was fabricate a new piece. I got it all put back together and I don't really like it. It only allows the door to open half way so I took it back off. I'm going to buy the door pull that holds it open all the way instead. If I can figure out how to post another picture I'll show a light switch that I need to replace......

OK, the ones I have seen only let the door open half way. So there are some that allow it to open all the way? That is why I was considering getting rid of mine, if my hinges were the right type to allow the door to go back flush to the body like my 2007 Trails West.
I'd give it one more shot with Trailswest. Email them that photo, and tell them what you need, and where can you get it.

**BUMP** Anybody know where to get one of those switches?
That's not a switch. It's a two gang weather cover. The levers move the actual house type switch under the cover. Go to Home depot or a hardware store. It looks like the cover is held in place with pop rivets. You might have to drill them off.

Thanks all. I'll try the hardware store for the switch cover and the spring has been taken care of. I fabricated a replacement for the broken piece and installed it. It works just like it should but I don't like it as it only allows the door to open half way. So I took the rod back off and am going to install a hard rubber door holder that will hold the door all the way open. I like the door to open all the way and it will be safer actually in this Wyoming wind.
