I am looking to replace the tires on my trailer. The Identification sticker on my trailer is worn off so I am not positive on the weight or tire size. I am waiting on my title to come back so I have the vin to contact the manufacturer with to try and get those details. but it is a 1994 2 horse slant steel Sundowner GN, with a 4' short wall. The tires on it now are ST225/75R15. I have called around trying to get price quotes. and I keep getting different recommendations. Would I need a 8ply or 10ply? several said they were chinese brand tires, I think I saw on past posts that those are not good? What brands are good. Someone quoted me for a High Run 10ply tire, is that a decent brand? THANKS

"HI Run" ARE Chinese tires. Pick any Americam brand you like; BFG, Goodyear, Firestone, Cooper etc., and price the "D" range tires in your 15" range. You can use ST or LT tires

As bad as I dislike Chinese branded tires, I'm getting real good service out of these.... But they are only two years old with about 13K miles on them.

Loadstar/Kenda Karrier KR03... http://www.kenda.com.tw/eng/product/ic/trailer.htm

Hard to find a good 15" LT or ST tire in that size.

Goodyear for less money than the Karrier tire....

Typically, Sundowner would have used a Load Range "D" in that size. That will be sufficient. If you really want to get specific, it likely same with a Goodyear Marathon. They normally give a good ride, and good service.

A "D" range tire usually has 8 plys, an "E" tire 10. The "E" range tire will have a higher load rating, often 400#s or more. The "E" range is typically inflated to a max of 80 PSI, the "D" 65psi.

I would stray/run away from the Hi-Run tires... There are several reviews on the Primewell tires that I've never heard of. Looks like the Firestone/Bridgestone stores handle them... You get what you pay for most times...

Can't really find anything specific about a Primewell trailer tire... What Primewell tire did your tire man quote....

I am not sure which Primewell tire he quoted me on.  I think I just gave him the tire size (ST225/75R15) and he said for a set of Primewells it will be X amount.   Are there some that I should stay away from?  Thanks

So just ask him if the Primewells were made in china?  Thanks for all your help.  I am lost with this.  My last trailer I just took to a shop and told them I needed tires.  I don't know what brand or ply they were...  Just took their word for it.  It worked out but then again that was just a bp two horse...

They are designed by GITI tires, China's largest manufacturer so yes, it's made in China....and I'd personally avoid them...

My 3 year old Load Star Karrier Chinese pieces of crap are seperating,  not dry rotting,  the tread is not wearing out,  it is speperating from the tire.   Check the make and model of your tire and stay as far away from China as possible.
