I had these tires on my truck, Bought them in Sept of 2009 and by the summer of 2010 two had failed.
Mine developed large bulges on the sidewalls. I was told I was over loading the tires, But i was pulling the same trailers that I had with several other brands of tires. So I knew it was the tires not the loads.

I had two tires do this on opposite sides of the truck over a two week period. They of course started the conversation with it was a road hazard and I should of had their road hazard insurance on the tires. ( I realize this was more the tire dealer than Goodyear) I continued to argue the issue and they did pro-rate the tire based on the tread left. At 16,000 miles these tires were 60% gone. So I got a 40% discount off the replacement tire.
I just couldnt see how they figured two tires on opposite side of a truck over a two week period, could have EXACTLY the same road hazard damage. There next argument was that I was overloading the truck, since the tires came off the rear axle. I had to explain that I towed the same Gooseneck 4H trailer with these tires as I had with the previous Toyo and prior to those Conti tires and never had a sidewall bulge. So the trailer must over load the Goodyears but not the other brands of tires.
In all fairness the Goodyear tires rode nice, did well in the snow, and just happened to fail in 100° summer heat with a load . Seeing this recall kinda explains that maybe they had a bad batch, since I bought my tires during the time frame they reference in the recall. Of course having a recall on tires I wore and replaced two years ago, Doesn't really help.

At least you received some compensation. When my Firestone tire blew out, causing $2500 in damage and almost killing my entire family, Firestone denied everyting and did nothing. Some companies are better to deal with than others.
