Got a new to me truck

an "08 Chevy 2500 HD 4x4

I hooked my "99 Fourstar trailer

to it and there is only about 5" clearance

between the truck bed and trailer

what can I do to increase the space so I don't

trash my truck and trailer

In most instances 5" is enough unless you are on rough terrain. You can adjust the tongue but make sure the angle is ok or block the axles. The newer trucks are quite high

Well...you could always stimulate the economy by replacing your bed with a Hillsboro FLATBED... http://www.hillsboroindustries.com/Products/AluminumTruckbeds.aspx
