Hi,I need to replace the tires on my 4Runner and would be glad of any recommendations. I have a 2006 SRS V8 with a coil spring suspension, and I haul a 2008 Brenderup Baron L. My usual total weight with a loaded trailer and vehicle is around 5000lbs, and my towing capacity is 7000lbs (per the Toyota manual).I am trying to get as much lateral stability as possible. I don't have a sway problem as is, but would like to keep my horse as safe as I can and my understanding is that the stiffer the rear suspension, the better the rig could handle a sudden swerve (i.e. if necessary to avoid an out of control oncoming car or similar). I've installed an airbag system in the rear to make the suspension stiffer, and would like to choose tires that will increase the stability if possible to do so. I don't care about my comfort. My current tire size is P265/65R17. I'd like to go up to an LT tire, and am looking at Goodyear Silent Armor. Are those a good choice? Fortera or Wrangler version? Or is there something better? Thanks so much for your help.

Sorry it's all smushed together--my paragraph breaks showed up on preview, but not here, and I can't find a help page.

I have had such good service out of Michelin tires on my dually trucks it is hard for me to recommend anything else.   They have been very stable with heavy loads, and LONG TREAD LIFE!!

Thanks everyone. I went with the BFG tires since they have a higher load rating that what I could find from Michelin that would fit.

I drive a 4-Runner and use Michelin LT tires exclusively after burning through the stock tires that came with my new SUV. I get between 75k to 82k on my Michelins (my 4-Runner has ~ 300,000k now, runs great). I ROTATE every 5-6k, keep proper inflation & condition tires to protect against rot. I highly recommend these tires and the best deals can be found at Discount Tires. I have purchased tires from them since 1984 in 2-states and have had excellent service. They rotate free. I will be purchasing another set of Michelins soon and will buy LTX A/T2 and I hope you found these great tires already. You will find great traction throughout the life of the tires due to design, great lateral stability (so you can hold your corners)and good life. I hope this helps.
