I realize that many of you are suffering in the heat. And that many of you will be teasing me in the winter when it's cold. Yesterday I loaded up and took the horses up to a trail head at China Meadows, From there it is a 10 mile ride into Red Castle. I hauled my camera all the way in taking photos. About half way thru the trips I noticed a message that it couldn't save the photos because there was no memory card. My wonderful daughter had removed the memory card to use some where else. So I had to just use my phones camera. Which I'm not sure why I had even brought the phone, since there is no cell service in the mountains.
The China Meadows trail head is at 9445 foot elevation. So the temps when we saddled up were 67*. We rode in the 10 miles to Red Castle Lake, fished for a few hours and then rode back out. When I got into the truck at 9:00 pm it was 56*. Red Castle Lake is at 11,302 foot elevation. So it was a nice cool ride all day.
This is a young bull moose that we rode past. He didn't seem to care that we were near by

Really enjoy the pics as upsetting as they are for us here in Arkansas in this 112 degree heat. We are in the process of down sizing and when thats accomplished you will have to put up with an Arkansas Hill billy out there and to heck with this dad blame heat.
