Hi,  I have a Nissan Titan truck which is a half ton/short bed.   Would it be easier on my truck to pull a bumper pull with a light camper on the truck bed or to pull a gooseneck trailer????   The camper is about 1000 lbs.   The bumper pull is 3000 empty.   The truck is rated at about 9500lbs I think.   Looking for opinions, please.

If you are talking about a gooseneck with living quarters...

No living quarters, just a dressing room.   I just want a dry place to sleep when I camp.   I am trying to decide which would be easier on me and my truck.

I need to be clear.   I already own the truck and bumper pull.   Its an Exiss event 2 horse with dressing room.   I am considering light campers to put on my truck or just selling the bumper pull to buy an aluminum gooseneck.  (2 horse with dressing room).  i am just not sure which way to go with this.

Check in the owners manual for your truck, It should give a good idea of what your truck is capable of towing.    I assume (this often gets me in trouble) that a Nissan 1/2 ton will be quite short on the capability to safely hadle your GN trailer with 2 horses.   Just remember, not only is the life of your horses in your hands, also your own life and any innocent folks you happen to meet on the road.

Hi Journey... You truck is weight limited in two ways. one... the Gross Combined Vehicle weight rating (GCVWR) and Two ... the Rear axle weight rating

You may not exceed the GCVWR with your loaded truck and trailer. The limit most people forget is the rear axle weight. A 1000 pound camper plus the tongue weight may be over your axle limit. Same as with a GN trailer... A GN trailer puts about 20% of the trailer on the hitch.

Another limit you'll reach is the depending on your truck bed camper is the hitch extension required. On a GN, A short bed truck may have a clearance issue with the trailer nose.

I favor the GN for the stability of towing. All subject to the above truck limits.

I just sold my truck camper and BP trailer, replaced them with a GN LQ trailer.    The new unit is almost 2000# heavier.   I have increased my fuel economy by 1.5mpg.    The wind resistance of my truck camper used LOTS of extra fuel...     This is a simple fact that the camper dealers neglect to mention.
