I am trying to clean up a few wires on the front wall of my trailer (outside) and also want to mount a battery disconect. Should the front wall of the trailer, the part under the goose neck where the spare tire, propane tanks, etc are mounted, have some thickness? Is it two sheets of metal, one inside and one outside with studs in between or is it a single thinkness? I ask becuase my LQ is finished and I don't want to run a screw through the wall.

I can't speak for all LQ, but for the ones that I have seen and the one that I am currently building, they are single thinkness from the factory, they will have to be furred out some to accommodate insulation and have something to attached the inner wall skin to so you probably have 1/2 - 1 inch of play. Easiest way to find out is to back out one of the screws holding your spare tire or propane tank on(if they are not just welded.

Thanks for the reply....I didn't think about the insulation, just assumed if it were not double thickness the carpet would have been glued directly to the front but it makes sence that there would be insulation.

Both of my trailers have a single skin construction. The carpeting is glued directly to the metal and affords a minimal amount of "insulation".
When we built a similar LQ, we installed wooden sleepers onto the flooring metal with adhesive, insulated between them with rigid foam, and applied a new plywood flooring on top of the lot. It worked well and only sacrificed about 1 1/2" in height.
Are there some studs on the front wall?
