I'm sorry if this has been discussed ad nauseum, but I've done a search and haven't had much luck getting the information I need.I need to make/purchase steps to get into the sleeping area of my gooseneck and don't have a clue about construction.We don't plan on keeping the trailer for much longer, so don't want to make something fancy/expensive. We just need something safe and easy to make.

Can someone lead me in the right direction to find plans for steps?

How much serious carpentry do you want to put into this? If 'not much' you could just get a mounting block step and use that.

I built a simple step the first time. It was two boxes with hinged lids so that I could store stuff. They were different heights so I could have the step effect, but still use them for seating. They were more or less free standing so easy to remove when I decided to built the fancy schmancy steps.

Probably someone will chime in here with real plans...

Can you please give me the dimensions of the first steps you made?  How deep? How high?

I've looked at mounting blocks, but they aren't quite high enough for me to get in and out of the gooseneck safely.

Here are the approximate dimensions of the steps that I have now. I don't remember what the old ones were. But they were deeper than these, and the low step was probably about 16 inches and the high one around 35.

Of course, you will need to adjust sizes to fit your particular space. The photo of the wooden step is the original sent to me by a very nice person on this list of the ones they made. The measurements are slightly different, but you can see how they were done.

if you didn't want the steps for storage area something else you could do is get a ladder- the kind that hinges and folds up for storage.  some friends have this for getting into their sleeping area and it's nice cause it gives you more room on the floor.
