Hi, I just purchased a used 93' CM 2Hs Bumper Pull for 16 yr old heading to college with her horse next fall. The ramp is very heavy (steel 1 person can't lift) and want ramp but to be made from aluminum as she will be lifting and traveling with her horse for college rodeo team. Cost must be minimum as we are stretched. Horse needs ramp. Help! no dealers in our area..(South Bend, IN) .thanks so much.

Is the ramp equipped with assist, helper, lift springs? If so, they may be weak and could be replaced. If there are no springs, then any reputable horse trailer repair shop should be able to replace or install new springs.

Yes there are many springs but they do look old, if they were replaced would this make a big difference? Also, we don't have any trailer dealers in our area...could a good carpenter or mechanic maybe do this? And is see there are many sizes with weight amts next to them what would you think would be good for a really heavy door? Thank you so much, I'm a desperate mom.
There is one in Elkhart, not too far from South Bend.
There also was one in Shipshewana that did trailer restoration, if you call a dealer in Shipshewana they might tell you the name of someone who would replace the torsion springs.
