To my dismay - last night I noticed dry rot cracks - not deep but still... - on my trailer tires - they are 235/85R16's -
Real bummer as I just needed new tires for my truck - God Bless the day job!
My beloved trailer is a CM 2 horse straight load Gooseneck trailer - modified with a small LQ - so it weighs more than the 4200# on the sticker - - I don't travel enough but when I do I ususally go for a few weeks mostly highway - live in FL - so I am also interested in learning if tire covers help prevent dry rot. Can't tell how old these tires are - have had my rig for 2-1/2 years and these tires came with it - they are firestones and must have the date code on the other side of the tire - in any case - with the cracking it is time for new ones I am afraid.
Appreciate any recommendations - want a nice safe smooth ride for my horses - best value tires I can get.

This is one of the most common questions asked of this forum. If you do a SEARCH under tires for the last half or full year, you will find numerous discussions about every aspect of their application

Thanks Dave
I did search and found a few posts on 8 vs 10 ply - but nothing with a brand name recommendation - will try the search feature again - I must be missing something
