hello,

i just bought a used Featherlite all aluminum horse trailer that has a painted on logo (farm name) located on the outside of the trailer on either side of the gooseneck.  I want to either cover it up with paint or a logo.

any suggestions??

thanks:)

If it is an aluminum trailer you can use Easy Off Oven Cleaner and a light soapy brillow pad. Spray on and let soak then rub lightly. It will remove all the paint!! If it is a painted trailer.....no way I know of other than sand down a repaint.

We had that same problem. There was a farm name painted on  to the side of a trailer we bought used. We had it removed at the dealer with rubbing compound? Made it look alsmost like new. You could still see faint traces of it when the sun hit the trailer just right. But, we just put our farm name over it.

Brillo pad to too abrasive and will scratch the paint. Use 000 steal wool.

Keep moist with easy off warm it up with a heat lamp. Do not get it too hot or it will bubble the paint. Scrub gently after it soaks a while.

I have done this many times when I used to detail.

LIGHT Brillo pad with soap is NOT to abrasive on Aluminum when rubbing Easy Off Oven Cleaner on painted logos. Common sense would tell you not to use it on paint. When the painted logo is removed take the Aluminum Trailer to the Truck Wash and get it acidized and brightened.

Are you sure that isn't a vinyl decal? It sure looks like one in the picture you posted.

Why not come up with a farm name for your self and take the layout to someone who does decals on trucks and they could probably fit it right over that logo and you wouldn't have to worry about scratching your trailer.

It's almost impossible to get all the paint marks off of aluminum. After it is stripped and polished, you can often still see the image of the original graphic. The skin of many trailers is usually only .050", so it's too thin to sand it out and re polish.

As others have said, after the area is cleaned up, the installation of a new graphic will help disguise any underlying blemishes. There are many companies that can provide custom decals.
