Hoping you can help. I have a 2000 4 Star with weekend package and am concerned with serious cracking of the cauling around the skylight/roof vent and around the air conditioning unit. Can someone tell me how to replace this caulk, or renew it? Thanks so much. I have found it pays to be pro-active, but no leaks at this time.

The old caulking should be removed and the area cleaned as well as possible. New caulking is then added in its place and you will be set for many years. If you use the marine type of caulks (polyurethane) instead of the household silicones, you will have a much longer service life. They can be obtained at most big box stores and better equipped hardware stores.
If you use a utility knife to scrape and cut off the old caulking, be careful not to cut into the aluminum roofing. Any scoring or penetrations will cause a premature failure of the metal. The hard plastic scrapers work the best, taking care when you have to use a knife. A teflon wheel chucked in a high speed drill will also remove the old caulking quite easily, while cleaning the metal.

I'm also thinking of being proactive with regards to roof leaks. So far I have none and I'd like to keep it that way. One question though: Is there any chance I could cause leaks by crawling around on the roof and having it flex and crack some old seals? Just wondering. I certainly don't want to have that happen!

Many roofs are a one piece design, and any leaking will develop where the cut outs are made. If you have a piece of plywood that will span the distance between two roof formers, you can lay it on the roof, and kneel on it while effecting your repairs. This will prevent any buckling of the thin roofing material.
