I was reading on here a while back about someone wanting to add mangers to their horse trailer. There was talk about not being able to cut the wall and standards out to install one. I also needed more space so i built me a add on box to the outside of my Sundowner Valuelite trailer. This is mostly out of aluminum and the doors were $7.50 each on ebay. I have access to shears and breaks to cut and bend the aluminum skin. I have a 12 volt light installed on cieling inside each door for night time use. I use to have to haul my chairs, table, coleman cooker ect inside my living area everytime we went anywhere. This box is 8'x3'x11" and you wouldnt belive the space it has. I made it to come out even with the fender well to gain as much room as possible. I did add 3 extra supports under the aluminum running board but I dont think it was nessesary.
Also there has been alot of talk about electric jacks to lift these horse trailers. In the one picture you can see a small 12 volt jack I just installed. Comes complete with rocker switch, electric motor with gear drive and emergency jack handle. Its kinda slow but all yoy have to do is press the switch and wait. The complete jack shipped to me in North Carolina $265.00. Now compared to the $600 to $1300 jacks i was seeing I dont mind the it taking a little longer to raise or lower.

Looks like you did a good job! Very professional looking.. I'm going to wait until I go to get my new trailer and then we'll see what modifications I can think of... My husband doesn't call me Mrs. Fred Sanford for nothing! LOL!

Thanks for the complements on the box.As far as the MPG impact i'm sure its not to noticeable since i usually pull a extra trailer with the mule wagon behind my horse trailer. I get around 10 to 13 pulling the complete rig it depends if I head toward the mountians or go toward the coast.

Heres the link to the jack. Call parts and service and ask for Bob. He will need to know if you have a single speed or dual speed jack to get you the right geared motor.
