Our Tractor Supply store has roof top car cargo racks on a super good sale and I was thinking they would make a good cheap hay rack for my trailer..they are big enough to carry a couple of bales of hay. These racks are made to attach to existing roof racks like most SUVs have...Would it be possible to mount this on my trailer somehow?

Any rack you install has to be supported by the trailer's side walls and not the roof's center section. Many car top carriers are narrower than those used on a trailer, and may not be strong enough for a few hay bales. If you can't walk on the completed structure, I would not gauge it strong enough to be used as a hay rack.
Hay racks are necessarily a sturdy lot, and I don't think that most of the car top carriers, of which I'm familiar with, are up to the task.

Contact Featherlite...my rack is a double skin roof. Well more than double skin, the additional layer is maybe 11 guage alum. I don't like it and will make into something I do like in the future.
