So I'm fortunate enough that even though my parents don't ride, they bought a nice new truck and trailer a few years ago so I could trailer myself to all the shows. I eagerly learned to drive with the horse trailer and have drove myself to all the shows the last few years... HOWEVER, my dad was looking through the insurance policy the other day and realized that even though I'm fully insured to drive my truck, the insurance automatically put a under 25 y/o clause on the trailer! So unknowingly I've been driving my trailer uninsured! Luckily I've been accident free, but I have had a few close calls of people pulling out infront of me, and not too long ago, had a deer run out infront of my on the highway, had those situations played out differently, I would have been in a world of trouble!!!
So all us youngsters driving our parents trucks and trailers, check your insurance policy!!

Your truck insurance will cover the liabilty of your trailer when its hooked up, but if you want comp and collision on your trailer, then yes, you have to purchase a seperate policy, most of which I found reasonable.
